The STM is preparing to shut down one of Montreal’s busiest and most central metro stations for eight months in order to perform repairs on its aging interior. Beaudry metro, the next station eastbound on the green line after Berri-UQAM, is in the heart of Montreal’s Gay Village and sees over three MILLION passengers come through the turnstiles of its single entrance each year.
Between October 1, 2018 and June 2, 2019, green line trains will go through Beaudry station at reduced speed without opening their doors. A shuttle bus (815) between Papineau and Berri-UQAM will facilitate access to Beaudry station during the renovations.

Renovation work is slated to continue through March 2020.
Beaudry Station, inaugurated on December 21, 1966, was part of Montreal’s original Metro network. At the time, the green line only went from Atwater to Frontenac. The orange line only went from Bonaventure to Henri-Bourassa.

Beaudry Station has been renovated once before, as part of the Réno-Métro program in 1999. At the time, its original interior decoration was changed from cream-and-brown tile to white-and-blue tile with stainless steel. Now, it seems the STM wants to backtrack on some of the changes made to the station by restoring its original look & feel: “When the work is finished, users will be able to admire the station’s original architectural approach, and the exposed, painted concrete will facilitate future maintenance.”
