Fashion retailer La Maison Simons is opening a new store in the Fairview Pointe-Claire mall, the mall announced this morning.
Simons already has locations in Downtown Montreal (Sainte-Catherine/Mansfield) and in the Galeries d’Anjou mall. The Pointe-Claire location will be Simons’ third store on the island of Montreal, and 16th store overall.
The new store is planned as part of a $20 million renovation project at Fairview mall, which is expected to be finished in 2021. The new Simons won’t open until then, but when it does, shoppers will benefit from a brand-new store. The project is being undertaken in preparation for the arrival of an REM light rail station nearby, said Brian Salpeter, Senior VP Development at Fairview mall.
The addition of Simons, one of the premier retailers in Quebec, as well as the anticipated arrival of the new light rail transit station near the shopping centre, will serve as catalysts for the transformation of the property and the adjacent lands into a new, vibrant mixed-use community that will become the city centre for the entire West Island.
Simons will occupy the second and third floors of the mall, where Sears used to be. The ground floor will be reimagined as a restaurant space.
