Winter Storm Warning in Effect

Winter Storm Warning in Effect

This morning, Weather Canada issued a winter storm warning for the Montreal area. Winter is definitely not going anywhere soon, and it appears the past 48 hours of warm weather were just a fluke.

Today’s rainy conditions will turn to snow during the evening, and by the end of the day Saturday, a total of 15 to 25 cm of snow is expected to fall. But beware – this is no ordinary snow storm! Weather Canada is saying we’ll be getting highly variable weather. That means snow mixed with ice will make road surfaces slippery and unpredictable.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Moreover, cold temperatures are also making a comeback; Saturday’s high is -13°C, low -22°C. Sunday will be even colder with a high of -17°C and a low of -22°C.

Sounds like the perfect weekend to stay indoors… Or go skiing!
