New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo has just green-lighted a project that’s sure to please Canadian and American cyclists! As part of a wider infrastructure plan, New York State will build a bike trail linking New York City to Canada near Montreal and Niagara Falls. The new project, called the Empire State Trail, is expected to draw tourists and outdoors enthusiasts to the state.
It’s going to be a beautiful scenic ride for cyclists, passing near Adirondack Park to the North and lakes Erie and Ontario to the West. The Hudson River Valley will also offer beautiful scenic trails open summer and winter. The trail will reportedly be multi-use, open to pedestrians, cyclists and eve cross-country skiers.
The 1,200-km route is already partly built, and will be completed by 2020.
