Queen rocked the world and permanently engrained themselves in the collective memory of a generation with their unique “Opera Rock” sound. Although singer Freddie Mercury encountered a tragic end in 1991, his legendary band still fills arenas to this day.
The biopic, titled Bohemian Rhapsody, has been long in the making – since 2010 at least. There were creative differences between Sacha Baron Cohen – the actor original cast to play Freddie Mercury – and the members of Queen. Guitarist Brian May even called Cohen “an arse”!
Now, actor Rami Malek is set to play the part of Queen’s legendary frontman
Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury’s lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music.
Bohemian Rhapsody is set for release November 2nd in North America.
