Montreal and Laval parents, brace yourselves… Daycare centres across the metropolitan area are planning to go on strike this Thursday! In total, about 3,000 children will be left without daycare service, forcing parents to come up with alternative plans.
The union will also be meeting Thursday to vote on an unlimited strike mandate. If approved, they could go on an indefinite strike at any time. About 1,300 employees represented by CSN haven’t adhered to their employer’s offer. Their representatives have found the offer “completely unacceptable”. They’ve been negotiating a new work contract since March 31, 2015, when their last one expired.
If the unlimited strike is approved, the situation could become even worse for 3,000 children and their parents, who will have to find another way to reconcile work and family.
