Women wore black to the Golden Globe Awards last night in solidarity with victims of abuse.
The 2018 Golden Globe Awards were about MUCH more than recognizing excellence in film and television. For its 75th edition, this awards ceremony garnered more than its fair share of media coverage due to one important detail…
How the women were dressed!
Indeed, the women in attendance overwhelmingly chose to wear black. Reportedly, only one woman chose not to wear black. Wearing the colour of mourning was meant to express support for victims of sexual abuse. The sexual harassment scandal that shook Hollywood last autumn was at the centre of the conversation in many news outlets throughout the night and this morning.
Aside from the black dresses, Oprah Winfrey’s speech also stood out; many called it “inspirational” and “powerful”. Many even wondered if she plans on running for President…
See for yourself:
Oprah broke into television in 1983 (aged 29), hosting “AM Chicago”, which was later renamed “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and remained on-air for 25 years. She has also starred in numerous films.
Without further ado, we would also like to tip our hat to the numerous beautiful black dresses symbolizing solidarity and strength. This Golden Globes Awards ceremony is sure to go down in history as an important evening for showbiz and for society at large!
