Sources close to legendary Irish rockers U2 have told The Canadian Press that the band is currently rehearsing at Laval’s Place Bell. Apparently, the band is taking over the venue as a rehearsal space for their upcoming tour.
U2 skipped a Montreal stop on their most recent tour in 2017. The band’s last shows in Montreal date back to the 2015 iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE Tour, when they played four nights in June at the Bell Centre. Previously, U2 performed quite a stunt by paying $3 million to expand the abandoned Blue Bonnets Raceway into a concert stadium for two sold-out concerts during the U2 360° Tour.
This year, the band has two dates booked in Montreal, on June 5 and 6.
No representatives from Place Bell, evenko or Universal confirmed that U2 is in town, CTV News Montreal reports. Everyone involved has signed non-disclosure agreements, the sources said, and are forbidden from taking photographs of the band’s rehearsals.
