5 Cool Places to Visit With Your Dog

Your dog loves to go out and explore the world just like you do.

Beyond dog parks, here are some wonderful places to visit with your four-legged best friend.

Dog cafes are popping up all across the country including Quebec. Consider Doggy Café in Plateau Mont-Royal, which offers an all-vegetarian, fair-trade menu along with special homemade dog biscuits, or D'la tasse au museau in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, which features a grooming parlour, a boutique and a dog-treat bar. Dogs simply love to meet there.

Ever considered doing yoga with your furry friend? It’s possible at Dogue Shop in Montreal. This training centre provides “doga” classes aiming to improve the bond between humans and their beloved tail-waggers while helping reduce or prevent behaviour problems for the latter.

If you want to try out canine sports no matter the season (canicross, fitness, agility courses, skijoring, etc.), a place such as Le Cabotin in Mirabel is perfect. There are classes available as well as a beautiful network of trails maintained all year long.

Going away? Certain premium hotels know how to treat four-legged friends like VIPs (Very Important Pets). For an extra of about $25-$30, your dog will get specialized bedding, water bowls, special treats and more. Pet-sitting services are also available in some cases. Check out Loews, Alt and Le Germain hotels.

Finally, three of Quebec’s national parks now accept dogs in specific areas as part of a three-year pilot program: Oka, Frontenac and Jacques-Cartier. Discovering the great outdoors with Fido is more awesome than ever!
