Netflix Will Increase Prices in Canada

The streaming service is coping with increased competition and rising costs.

Are you addicted to Netflix? When the streaming service tried to hike prices a few years ago, it wasn’t as powerful as it is now… And users rebelled en masse by unsubscribing.

Now, the company is enacting another price hike for its Canadian customers, after testing the waters in Austrialia. The “Basic” and “Standard” plans will each cost $1 more, while the “Premium” plan, which allows 4 simultaneous streams and 4K high-resolution content, will be $2 more (a total of $13.99).

"From time to time, Netflix plans and pricing are adjusted as we add more exclusive TV shows and movies, introduce new product features and improve the overall Netflix experience, to help members find something great to watch even faster," the company said.

This increase only applies to Canadian customers. The decision comes just days after Disney announced it was launching its own streaming service. Netflix has also been setting record after record in terms of how much it spends on production and acquisition of new content. The streaming battle of giants is beginning!

How will you react to this? Will you cancel your subscription or will you buy in?
