Have you noticed? In the past five to 10 years, summers haven’t been like they used to… Montreal has always known hot and humid weather during the summer months, but recently, it’s been more extreme than usual. Plus, we’ve been seeing more thunderstorm and intense rain, and insect populations have been shifting North.

The trend is set to continue this year in southern Quebec, with heat and humidity levels above average for most of the summer. According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac Long Range Forecast, August is set to be the rainiest and hottest month this summer, when compared to past yearly averages.

However, the Almanac also says it should be slightly less rainy in the West, which is good news for Montreal – this area lies in the Western reaches of the long range forecast.
Of course, these predictions are not useful for knowing which days will be nice, and which will be uncomfortably hot or rainy. It’s just a general idea of the kind of summer we’re about to have… There should still be plenty of nice days to enjoy!
