If you use public transit in our city, you might be familiar with the “Transit” mobile app. If not, it’s time you downloaded it! Transit is by far the best way to get bus & train schedules onto your phone in real-time. Now, the Montreal-based company has just gotten a major push (to the tune of $17.5 million!) from Alliance Ventures (an investment arm of Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi) to expand its offering.

The app was created by an independent team right here in Montreal. It’s the world’s premiere tool for planning your transit route, getting accurate bus schedules onto your smartphone and evaluating all your transportation options, including alternates such as Uber, walking, biking, Bixi, Téo Taxi, etc. – basically, it shows you every available option to get from point a to point b without using your car!

Think about it… Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi are financing a mobile app that’s designed to get people OUT of their cars?! Woah…

Montreal should be proud of Transit: the app has grown from a tiny start-up to the OFFICIAL transit app for several major cities, including Toronto, Vancouver, Paris, New York City, Detroit, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Hamburg, Mexico, Rome and MANY, MANY others!
