It turns out the cold weather will have been a warning of snowfall to come. Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Southern Quebec, and although the Beauce, Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie areas will be hit hardest, Montreal will not be spared.
Expect 10 to 15 cm of snow to fall overnight, starting this evening (Thursday, November 15) and into Friday evening.
As is the case every year, this first snowfall of the season is expected to impact the morning commute. People seem to “forget” how to do their winter driving in situations like this, making the roads slower, more dangerous and just generally frustrating…
To make matters worse, winter tires aren’t mandatory until December 15 this year! You can be sure that means plenty of folks still have their summer or all-season tires on… Next year (2019), the deadline is being pushed forward to December 1st.
