Ariana Grande has chopped off her signature ponytail in favor of a new shorter haircut.
The popstar has become synonymous with the recognizable hairstyle, with an MTV music critic once even arguing that her ponytail is "as famous as her voice." However, following her split from former fiance Pete Davidson, Ariana has decided it's time for a new look and shared the results of her recent haircut with her Instagram followers on Friday (16Nov18).
The 25-year-old's long brunette locks have been cut into a chic shoulder-length long-bob which emphasizes her highlighted strands, and she also added a fun filter on top of the snap to give her a pair of floral bunny ears and a cute rabbit's nose and whiskers.
Fans flocked to compliment the Thank U, Next hitmaker on her bold new look, with one even proclaiming, "This is a new start of Ari."
Topping the comments list was Ariana's friend and fellow singer Demi Lovato, who returned to Instagram last week (06Nov) having taken a break from social media in the wake of her suspected overdose back in July.
"Cutie (three heart emojis)," the Sorry Not Sorry hitmaker wrote.
Ariana has relied on hair extensions to create her full ponytail, previously explaining that four years of dying her hair red to play Cat on television shows Victorious and Sam & Cat left her tresses "completely destroyed."
"I wear extensions but I wear it in a ponytail because my actual hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down," she wrote on her Instagram page back in 2015.
The haircut also follows the singer's recent exchange with Camila Cabello, who recently asked how Ariana maintains such a painful style.
"well u actually have hair so that prolly (probably) makes it a lil more painful," she replied. "nah jk (joke) i’m in constant pain always and don’t care at all."
