Richard E. Grant's dreams came true at the Oscars on Sunday night (24Feb19) after he met up with his idol Barbra Streisand.
The Brit was not a winner at the Academy Awards, losing the Best Supporting Actor prize to Mahershala Ali, but the night was far from a bust.
Richard, who wrote to Barbra and offered her a place to stay with his family in Swaziland when he was just 14, has spent the awards season cooing about his first love - and even took a selfie outside her house.
Streisand took note and thanked her number one fan for his letter, which he posted online, while complimenting him on his performance in Can You Ever Forgive Me? opposite Melissa McCarthy.
"Dear Richard What a wonderful letter you wrote me when u were 14 ! and look at u now! You're terrific in your latest movie with Melissa congratulations and love Barbra (sic)," she wrote.
And on Sunday, the Withnail & I actor met his heroine at the Academy Awards, moments after appearing starstruck as Streisand walked onstage to introduce Best Picture nominee BlacKkKlansman.
Taking to Instagram, he shared a photo of the duo before getting snap-happy with a bunch of his favorite stars, like Emma Stone, Amy Adams, and Rebel Wilson, at the Vanity Fair post-Oscars party.
He later shared: "Being Oscar nominated was pretty amazing, but meeting with Barbra and having a proper conversation was an absolute astonishment. 40 carat Gold."
