Lemons get a bad rep in life: we refer to bad cars and bad products as “lemons”… And when something bad happens, we say “when life gives you lemons”… But in reality, lemons have unexpected health benefits! Here are 5 excellent reasons why you should embrace life’s lemons.

1. Lemons are an antioxidant.
Antioxidants are thought to help prevent  or delay health problems including heart disease, infection and cancer.

2. Lemons are high in vitamin C.
Lemons, and all citrus fruits, are high in vitamin C, an essential nutrient. Did you know that scurvy is cause by vitamin C deficiency?

3. Lemons help digestion.
Drinking a glass of lemon water in the morning gets your system going and helps with constipation!

4. Lemons help bad breath.
The acidity in lemons helps make your mouth a hostile environment for the stinky bacteria that cause halitosis (bad breath).

5. Lemons prevent kidney stones.
The acidity in lemons had the opposite effect on your urine, making it LESS acidic. This helps prevent painful kidney stones from developing in the body.
