Jorja Smith wants to use her role as Dior's new global make-up ambassador to celebrate and give representation to mixed-race girls.
The British songstress, who earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist in 2019, announced that she has teamed up with the French luxury brand for the role on Monday (29Apr19).
During an interview for her cover feature in the June edition of Elle U.K. magazine, Jorja who has previously worked with the likes of Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Stormzy, shared that she hopes to use the position to champion mixed-race beauty.
"It's a new face and it's also a natural face. I mean, I wear make-up, but I haven't done anything to my face," she told the publication. "I've always looked like this - for young mixed-race girls at school to see me and be like, 'Oh - I look like her!'"
The Let Me Down hitmaker went on to share the magazine cover on her Instagram account, and gushed that she's "so excited" about the prestigious gig.
"Little 14-year-old J would not have even thought about this while stealing my mom's mascaras!" the 21-year-old wrote in the caption of the post.
Despite admitting that she enjoys working out and experimenting with make-up, Jorja also confessed to the publication that, to her, beauty isn't necessarily about aesthetics, and that it's more about being "comfortable" in your own skin.
"It's being comfortable in your skin and knowing that your imperfections make you perfect. You have to realise that you've got flaws and they're fine - they just make you who you are," she smiled.
