This weekend in Montreal: the Mont-Royal Street Fair kicks off Thursday with tons of shops & special kiosks open until Sunday; cyclists unite for Tour la Nuit Friday night; it’s opening weekend for Village au Pied-Du-Courant; Bar Le Ritz PDB is organizing a 90’s Dance Party on Saturday night; and Sunday, Montreal streets will be partly or fully closed for the annual Tour de l’Île.
Cycling Galore in Montreal
It’s a huge weekend for cyclists indeed! Just days after the city announced a major expansion of its bike path network, cyclists will undoubtedly use this year’s Friday and Sunday “Tour de l’Île” events as an occasion to celebrate! Street closures will stretch from 6:30pm to midnight on Friday evening; and from 6am to 4pm on Sunday.
Pied-du-Courant Opens its 6th Edition
Also noteworthy is the opening of the Village au Pied-du-Courant for its 6th consecutive summer. Pied-du-Courant is a snow dump site in winter that transforms into an ephemeral park all summer long, with music, entertainment and art installations. It also happens to be one of the city’s most popular spots to watch La Ronde’s fireworks from, because it’s right across the water from there.
Mont-Royal Street Fair
In addition to shopping and sightseeing, Mont-Royal Avenue will be packed with family-friendly activities to do all day long, including face painting, zip lining, rock climbing, an inflatable playhouse, mini-golf and more!
Road Closures
In addition to the cycling events, ongoing construction projects will cause road closures. Motorists going to or from highways 15 and 20 using the Turcot Interchange will be forced to find alternate routes. The access rapm from the 720 to the 15 will also be closed, and the ramp from the 15 to Décarie will be down to one lane. Here is a detailed map.
Lastly, Saint-Jacques Street will be closed between Décarie Boul., the MUHC and Glen Road, from 11:59pm Friday to 5am Monday.
