Milo Ventimiglia's red carpet style is inspired by his This Is Us character, Jack Pearson.

The actor plays the father-of-three in the hit NBC drama series, opposite onscreen wife Mandy Moore, and in a new interview with Variety, revealed he has been influenced by aspects of Jack's personality, most notably, his simple approach to his wardrobe.

"Some people take bolder approaches and want to stand out," he said. "I like to blend in. I just like to be classy, simple, and timeless."

For his first-ever Primetime Emmy Awards back in 2007, Milo wore a classic black Ralph Lauren tuxedo, and even styled himself.

Fast-forward to 2017, and the Gilmore Girls star planned on wearing another simple yet sophisticated Ralph Lauren navy blue tuxedo to the Emmys, as This Is Us had scored its first-ever nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.

However, Milo ended up wearing a suit that was originally created for a groom.

"That actually was a custom tuxedo that was made for a guy for his wedding, but he didn't like the black lapels," the 41-year-old explained. "It just happened to be in my size, and I tried it on and was like, 'This is a beautiful tuxedo. It's not going to see a wedding, but it's definitely going to see the red carpet.'"

And when he was nominated for a second time at the Emmys last year, the actor decided to up the stakes, and worked with stylist Ilaria Urbinati. Wearing a Brunello Cucinelli white dinner jacket and black trousers, Milo pulled off a chic and timeless red carpet look.

"I couldn't do a full white tuxedo. That's just not me. That actually might have been my favourite look of the last several decades because I felt really good wearing it," he shared.
