Environment Canada is warning of a severe thunderstorm risk for the Montreal area. A “Severe Thunderstorm Watch” is in effect for this afternoon and early evening.
The governmental agency is warning people that this storm will bring strong enough winds to blow down trees and even blow large vehicles off the road. In extreme cases, tornadoes could even form. Other risks include flash floods, water pools forming on roads and injury due to lightning.
“Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”
In total, 20mm of rain are expected to fall this afternoon, but the rain has already started, so this is likely to be an all-day affair.
