Insider reports claim that the next film in the James Bond franchise will star a black woman as codename 007. Lashana Lynch, of Captain Marvel fame, will be assuming the secret agent’s “licence to kill,” the Daily Mail reports.
Ever since Daniel Craig announced his retirement from the Bond franchise, speculation has surrounded the role. Could the next 007 be black? Or perhaps a woman? As it turns out, both!
In a surprising twist, Daniel Craig will not disappear completely from the picture… Nor will Ms. Lynch “usurp” his identity as James Bond! In a clever twist, Craig is said to appear in the upcoming film as a retired James Bond, while Lynch assumes the codename 007.
The new 007 will be revealed as she is called into spy master M’s office; it’s been described as a “popcorn-dropping moment”. Daniel Craig will appear in the new film as a retired Bond, who tries his usual game of seduction on his female 007 replacement… Unsuccessfully!
Lashana Lynch, 31, had her breakthrough role earlier this year, playing pilot Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel.
The next 007 film will be called ‘Bond 25’ and is currently being shot in Italy and the UK. It’s due for release some time in 2020.
