Natasha Lyonne and her boyfriend Fred Armisen dress up as famous characters when they attend the Emmy Awards.
The Russian Doll star, who has been dating the Saturday Night Live comedian since 2014, revealed in a new interview with Variety that they pick a theme for their red carpet outfits every year.
Discussing her choice of a vintage off-the-shoulder dress that she wore in 2015 to the prestigious awards ceremony, Lyonne explained that she had to complement her beau's outfit, as he was sporting an ensemble inspired by Nightmare on Elm Street villain Freddy Krueger.
"It needed to pair well with Fred, my boyfriend, who was nominated. And he wanted to go as Freddy Krueger. The flashes of fringe at the bottom of the dress really felt like something that Freddy Krueger could have destroyed with his claw," she shared.
Armisen, 52, wore a black tailored suit to the Emmys, along with a white shirt and red and green striped tie in homage to Krueger's iconic striped sweatshirt. He also wore a fake gloved hand with razors, and cheekily posed in pictures with his hand on Lyonne's shoulders.
The pair have attended the Emmys in theme ever since, and in 2016, the comedian walked the red carpet impersonating Frankenstein, with the duo arriving at the ceremony in a funeral hearse.
Elsewhere in the interview, the 40-year-old confessed that the chic white Gucci look she wore to the premiere of Orange Is the New Black's final season last month was something she wanted to be buried in.
"It's a real dream outfit. I'd be fine to be buried in that!" Lyonne laughed. "It had all the elements: a collar that popped, a white leather blazer with gold buttons and a leather tie. So it really was in the sweet spot of everything I enjoy."
