Macaulay Culkin has hilariously responded to the news that his movie Home Alone is being rebooted, by sharing a snap of himself slobbing out on the sofa.

The actor, now 38, starred as Kevin McCallister in the 1990 film, which told the tale of a boy thwarting a pair of robbers after accidentally being left at home when his family went on holiday.

It was announced on Wednesday that the movie is to be rebooted as part of Disney's plans for its home streaming service Disney+, and Macaulay weighed in on the news with a post on Twitter on Wednesday night.

Poking fun at the famous scene of Kevin sitting on the sofa stuffing his face with junk food as he makes the most of his parents being away, Macaulay sat on his own sofa, wearing a white crop top, checked shirt and tiny shorts, with an empty bowl of takeout resting on his protruding stomach.

He also had a white headband pushing his blond hair back, and a laptop and mouse resting on his legs.

Alongside the image, Macaulay wrote: "This is what an updated Home Alone would actually look like."

He then joked in a later tweet: "Hey @Disney, call me!"
