This trend is making a comeback from 70's fashion.

It is 'The Mustache'. The stand-alone mustache, no facial hair at all except above your upper lip. 

A lot of NFL players have been spotted sporting a mustache. According to barbers the full beard has eased off and the mustache is actually the new thing.
