After an unprecedented two-year closure, Highway 720-W in downtown Montreal is finally slated to reopen to traffic. The major access point for downtown Montreal has been closed since December 2017.
The good news doesn’t stop there! Along with the new highway, both major westbound access points will also be reopened, at Du Fort and Lucien-L’Allier Streets. Motorists will be able to take both entrances, as well as the new highway, starting Monday morning at 5am.
There is one downside to all of this: the temporary access point at Rose-de-Lima Street will be closed down as planned, on Friday at 11:59pm. This means that all weekend, there will be no access to the 720-W from the West side of downtown.
The access ramp from 720-W to 20-W will also be down to just one lane for the second half of October. Starting Monday at 5am and until early November, plan on continued traffic snarls in this area as teams work to complete the highway.

As of now, more than 80% of the Turcot reconstruction project is finished. Work should last approximately another year… And then motorists can look forward to this!
Then, construction on the Ville-Marie Tunnel is starting and is slated to last 10 years! Oh, well…
