Have you ever wondered what your loved ones would say about you at your funeral? What do you hope people will remember you for? Clearly, South Koreans are asking themselves these questions because recently, over 25,000 of them have participated in mass “living funerals” – Reuters reports.

They hope to gain perspective and quality in their lives… By simulating their deaths!

The strange ritual includes wearing shrouds, writing your last will and testament, and lying in a closed coffin. Teenagers, the elderly and all age groups in-between participated; defying the notion that thinking about death only happens when you get older…

Participants said the experience gave them a fresh perspective on life. One 28-year-old man said he did away with his habit of seeing others as competitors.
