Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Laval, Longueuil and Montreal. Between 2 and 5 mm of drizzle are expected to hit the ground during the day and freeze sidewalks and road surfaces, making walking and driving extra-slippery.
The government agency warns that “highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous”.
Due to climate change, freezing rainfalls may become more frequent in Montreal. Some sources claim we could start getting up to 60% more freezing rain episodes in the coming decades.
Be careful out there… Especially since some drivers are bound to still have their summer tires on (sigh).
