Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, shocked the world this month by announcing that they will step down as senior members of the British royal family. They’re not the first to do so, but such exits are rare and this one is getting more and more controversial.
Now, an insider speaking to People has revealed Harry & Meghan may have been forced out of the family following bad blood and an impossibly stressful experience. “If relationships had been better, things would have been different,” the unnamed insider told People.
“There is so much bad blood in that family – it’s toxic,” the source, described as a friend, added.
Meghan also felt immense outside pressure from the media, after toxic reports and endless hounding left her feeling “deeply, deeply hurt” and insiders point to a lack of support from her newfound royal “family” as a key factor in her decision to leave. “Meghan and Harry didn’t feel they got enough comfort or solace from them,” a source claims.
The Daily Mail also reports Meghan felt particularly anxious and uncomfortable in Britain, and has no intention of ever living there again. Following the birth of baby Archie, she reportedly starting having anxiety attacks and insomnia brought on by incessant worrying about her future. A friend said “this was her plan all along, to eventually leave the UK and build her own empire with Harry.”
“She doesn’t want to raise Archie there and she doesn’t want to schlep back and forth,” the friend added. “She wants a country house in Whistler outside of Vancouver and a home in Toronto.”
Perhaps most shocking of all, this friend also revealed that “their announcement was not a surprise to the royal family, they knew all along.” This goes against reports saying the royals were blindsided by Harry & Meghan’s announcement last week.
