Pamela Anderson's fifth marriage has come to an end after just 12 days.

The Baywatch star, 52, secretly wed movie mogul Jon Peters, 74, in Malibu, California on 20 January, more than 30 years after they first dated.

However, the couple's honeymoon period is already over - Anderson and Peters have decided to call it quits.

"I have been moved by the warm reception to Jon and my union (sic)," Anderson shared in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, revealing they had yet to file the legal paperwork to officially register the marriage before parting ways.

"We would be very grateful for your support as we take some time apart to re-evaluate what we want from life and from one another," she added.

"Life is a journey and love is a process. With that universal truth in mind, we have mutually decided to put off the formalization of our marriage certificate and put our faith in the process. Thank you for respecting our privacy."

Peters has yet to comment on the abrupt separation, which emerges days after Anderson shared a sweet shot of the newlyweds on her Instagram Stories timeline.

The marriage was the fifth for both - Anderson was previously wed to rocker Tommy Lee, the father of her two sons, as well as Kid Rock, and Rick Salomon, with whom she twice exchanged vows.

Meanwhile, Peters' ex-wives include actress Lesley Ann Warren, on whom he infamously cheated with Barbra Streisand, and fellow film producers Christine Forsyth and Mindy Peters.
