Carolina Hurricanes were forced to bring in a 42 year old zamboni driver in the middle of a game as a 3rd string emergency backup. And he won!

42-year-old Dave Ayres zamboni driver for the Toronto Marlies was serving as the emergency goalie for Saturday night’s game between the Hurricanes and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It was his time to shine when both backup goalies for the Carolina Hurricanes got hurt.  Ayres, stepped onto the ice in Toronto Marlies gear in the middle of the second period. Although he let in 2 goals he then helped The Hurricanes beat The Leafs 6-3.
