Dozens of research groups around the world are racing to create a vaccine, and they have ready for their first test.

Monday researchers gave the first shot of a potential vaccine to volunteer Jennifer Haller for COVID-19.

This is just the beginning of a series of studies in people needed to prove whether the shots are safe and if they will work. The Vaccine does not contain the virus itself so those who have volunteered to be tested on are not at risk of getting it. The Vaccine code-name mRNA-1273 was developed by the NIH, Massachusetts-based biotechnology company, Moderna Inc.
