Premier François Legault reassures the people of Quebec

During his daily press briefing on Wednesday, Premier François Legault announced that an elderly person had died from the coronavirus. It was the first death recorded in Quebec.

The report dated Wednesday shows that 94 people are infected with coronavirus, which represents an increase of 31 new cases compared to Tuesday. Of these, six are currently hospitalized, four of whom are in intensive care.

There are 3600 people who have been tested and are awaiting results, while another 5200 people have received a negative result during the screening test.

Legault addresses worried Quebecers, that there is no risk if they stay home and away from other people, he said it is important that society continues and that workers that need to go to work take extra measures to be safe. 

Quebec public health officer, urged Quebecers to use credit or debit cards or order online if possible.

Regarding wait times for 811, Legault said he understands people's irritation. The number of nurses who answer the phone will increase from 400 to 450. And by Thursday, there will be 150 more.

However, the Premier reiterated the importance of using 1-877-644-4545 first for all questions from the population regarding the coronavirus.
