At his press conference this morning, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed both the youth and senior Canadian populations promising them continued support during these trying times.

For our countrys youth, who may be struggling to adjust to new ways of life, trying to cope with constant uncertainty, or who feel alone during these times of social distancing, Trudeau encouraged them to reach out to Kids Help Phone which is available to them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

He has also ensured 7.5 million dollars in funding to employ more counsellors and trained volunteers to help those who use the service.

Kids Help Phone can be reached by TEXT at 686868, by phone at 1-800-668-6868 or online at kidshelpphone.ca

When addressing the senior Canadian population, Trudeau acknowledged how stressful these times are for the most vulnerable of society, and recognized how social distancing and isolation are particularly taxing for older members of society.

At his press conference, Trudeau promised, alongside the Minister of Seniors, an extra 9 million dollars in funding to the United Way through the New Horizons program for seniors. This will help ensure more check ins for the elderly population, grocery deliveries, meal deliveries and overall added support for the Canadians who need it most.
