After his day off yesteday, Premier Francois Legault held his press conference this afternoon where he addressed safety concerns surrounding the elderly population in Quebec.
He says that when it comes to the "coming and going" from seniors residences, he wants to implement more security, in order to ensure the safety of all who live and work there.
He plans on including more security measures at the entrances and exits to these places to ensure that the only people passing through include residents, employees and delivery personnel. In addition, security teams will also be checking to make sure no one from these groups exhibits any symptoms of COVID-19.
In terms of numbers, in the last 24 hours, Quebec has climbed to 2840 cases; an increase of 342 since yesterday afternoon. Throughout the province, the 2 most affected regions remain Montreal and l'Estrie.
Of the 2840 cases, 192 people are currently hospialized with 72 in intensive care.
Again, Legault remains positive that our social distancing measures are working to help reduce and curve the spread of COVID-19.
