Police officer across Quebec have cracked down this week on handing out tickets to those whom are not respecting physical distancing rules enforced by the Government of Canada. Since last Saturday Montreal police officers have so far issued 157 tickets.

On Sunday, The city of Montreal closed Ile Notre-Dame, Lachine Canal crossings, and the parking lots and stair cases on Mont-Royal. Mayor of Montreal Valerie Plante stated that to many people were gathering in large groups and were taking advantage of the sunny weather.

There are some specific changes to infrastructure, like, a three-kilometre stretch of sidewalk on Mont-Royal Avenue will be widened to give pedestrians more room to physically distance and Cyclists are being kicked off the Olmsted bike path at Mont-Royal Park -  it will now be for pedestrians only.

A fine of minimum $1,000 will be issued for those who do not respect the social distancing rules and an additional $546 fine will be issued if you do not obey the rules which can go to a maximum of $6,000.
