The Quebec government confirmed Wednesday that the province’s minimum hourly wage will go up by 60 cents, to $13.10 on May 1st. The minimum wage for employees who earn tips will rise 40 cents to $10.45 an hour. Plus, seasonal berry pickers will earn more money this year. Raspberry pickers will now get $3.89 per kilogram (18 cents increase) and strawberry pickers will get $1.04 a kilogram (5 cent increase).

Labour Minister Jean Boulet said that the increase will benefit over 400,000 workers in Quebec, the majority being women, which will not only help during the coronavirus pandemic but also in the economic recovery of Quebec.
