Government guidelines for social distancing have left Montrealers confused. This breakdown simplifies it all.

  • Going for a walk alone is permitted, as long as you maintain a 2-meter distance from another person.

  • Workplace meetings between employees are also ok, provided the 2-meter distance rule is followed.

  • Gatherings between occupants of a private residence and a person offering them a service, is allowed, if the 2-meter distance rule is observed.

  • Meetings in a public space are allowed (businesses, government services, etc.) provided the 2-meter distance is observed by all participants.

  • Friends or family that don't live in the same household may not socialize or walk together on streets, even if they observe the 2-meter distancing rule.

  • Gatherings of more than two people are not permitted at any time, under any circumstance.

  • Public transportation for travel to an essential service is allowed. The 2-meter distancing rule must be observed while waiting for and on board the vehicle.
