The city of Montreal is converting city buses into mobile COVID-19 testing units that can be sent into the city’s hot spots. This includes Montreal North, Saint-Michel and Rivière-des-Prairies, which have the highest number of cases in the city.

The mobile clinics can test about 100 people a day and for now, they are reserved for people displaying symptoms of COVID-19. The city says the mobile clinic schedules will be available on its website asap.

Quebec will increase the number of tests from 6,000 to 14,000 by the end of next week in anticipation of deconfinement and is adopting a new COVID-19 screening strategy. The mobile clinics comes as the city boosts screening measures.

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM), said the buses used as mobile clinics will be disinfected daily.
