Quebec Deputy Premier Genevieve Guilbault, Health Minister Danielle McCann and Horacio Arruda, the province’s national director of public health, are providing Quebec’s daily COVID-19 update from Quebec City.

The most recent assessment of the COVID-19 pandemic in the province. As of today there are 2,510 deaths in Quebec. There are 34,327 confirmed cases of COVID-19. 1,840 people are in the hospital, including 213 whom are in intensive care.

Taking advantage of National Mental Health Week, Quebec announced a "new COVID-19 action plan,” accompanied by a $ 31 million envelope, to support people suffering from mental health problems, who may be accentuated due to the pandemic and isolation.

"This whole fight against COVID-19 to preserve our physical health must not be at the expense of mental health. We don't have to choose, "said Deputy Premier Geneviève Guilbault.

Guilbault, has also confirmed that the daycares will be gradually reopened at 30% of their capacity next week. This is a first wave. "It is obvious that we cannot reopen daycares in the same way as before COVID-19, at 100% of their capacity, overnight.”

The "risk factor" of complications linked to COVID-19 is for people aged 70 and over "and not at 60.” "It will therefore be possible for teachers and educators between the ages of 60 and 69 to return to work next week," said Guilbault. "People under the age of 60 can go to work provided, of course, that they comply with public health regulations, in particular the guidelines on social distancing, hygiene.

Employers in Quebec are also asked to take this into account so that these guidelines are followed in all workplaces.”

The Federal government confirmed the deployment of 760 members of the Canadian Armed Forces to help fight COVID-19 old aged homes; of these 760 members, 500 -550 work directly in 13 establishments. Most of these are located in the Greater Montreal region, said the president of the Conseil du trésor, Jean-Yves Duclos. The provincial government intends to send 1,000 more soldiers. Following François Legault's request, but Minister Duclos could not provide a schedule. Also the 4$ premiums for health care workers are now able to collect.
