A daycare in Mascouche is going through the provinces first outbreak of COVID-19 at a daycare
It is a daycare that’s been offering emergency child-care for essential workers and public health officials; 12 out of the 27 children there tested positive for COVID-19, along with four employees.
The Les Moulins, Assomption and Lanaudiere regions have decided to postpone the reopening of schools and daycares until May 19th.
To keep daycares from being completely overwhelmed as they reopen, Quebec’s Minister of Families is encouraged parents to keep their children at home if they can.
When they open off island on Monday, Daycares will only be operating at 30 per cent capacity, so they are recommending anyone who can get a relative or student to watch their children, do so – save the spots for people with no other options.

Guilbault, has also confirmed that the daycares will be gradually reopened at 30% of their capacity next week. This is a first wave. "It is obvious that we cannot reopen daycares in the same way as before COVID-19, at 100% of their capacity, overnight.”
The "risk factor" of complications linked to COVID-19 is for people aged 70 and over "and not at 60.” "It will therefore be possible for teachers and educators between the ages of 60 and 69 to return to work next week," said Guilbault. "People under the age of 60 can go to work provided, of course, that they comply with public health regulations, in particular the guidelines on social distancing, hygiene.
