The sale of alcohol will now be prohibited in bars after midnight

Quebec is about to tighten the screw to bar owners in order to better enforce health regulations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, and the National Director of Public Health, Dr. Horacio Arruda, made the announcement Thursday at 1 p.m. in a press conference. 

As of tomorrow, the sale of alcohol will be prohibited in all bars of Quebec after midnight and establishments will have to close their doors from 1 am, announced the government of Quebec. Health Minister Christian Dubé has announced that the sale of alcohol will now be prohibited in bars after midnight and that these establishments will have to be closed from 1 a.m.

Also, bars will not be able to accommodate more than 50% of their planned customer capacity, as restaurants do today.

Finally, dancing will be prohibited in all bars and nightclubs. All customers will also need to be seated there to consume alcohol.

All of these measures will take effect tomorrow, July 10th.
