Wearing a mask will be mandatory in public closed places throughout Quebec as of Saturday, July 18, announced the Premier of Quebec, François Legault.
Merchants will be responsible for driving back any customer without a face cover. If they fail to accommodate people not wearing a mask, they will face a fine of $ 1,000 to $ 6,000.
As of Monday, it is now manditory to wear a mask on public transportation, throughout Quebec. This obligation will extend on July 18 to all closed public places: shops, supermarkets, shopping centers, cinemas, restaurants, bars, libraries, etc.
Quebec imposes this measure in time for the weekend marking the start of the construction vacation. This period will represent the largest movement of people between regions of Quebec since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
