The Quebec government approves a return to work of up to 25% of employees in office towers starting on Saturday.
Do you feel alone while working from home? You may well have to continue teleworking, because Quebec will allow private sector employers to return their staff to offices as of July 18, but at an occupancy rate reaching a maximum of 25% per company.
"It is a maximum and not an occupation target," said Minister of Labor Jean Boulet, who made the announcement with the Minister responsible for Montreal Chantal Rouleau and Dr. Richard Massé, of public health.
Telework continues to be highly recommended by the authorities. The government suggests that organizations give priority to returning employees who provide direct service to the public and to those for whom the reconciliation of telework and family is difficult.
The occupancy percentage could increase in the coming months, depending on the evolution of the pandemic in Montreal. Both businesses and tower owners have health measures to put in place, particularly with regard to the ventilation of the premises, in particular the elevator shafts.
The Commission for Standards, Fairness, Occupational Health and Safety (CNESST) has prepared a kit in this regard and it will carry out inspections to ensure that the return to the office takes place in an orderly manner.
