This Covid-19 infographic is an easy way to gauge certain risk factors

As restrictions continue to ease across the country and more businesses are reopening, many people are asking about the risk factor for certain activities such as getting a haircut, eating at a restaurant, or going to the gym.

There have been plenty of news reports over the past few weeks about the number of risk-heavy activities open to Canadians and even more articles published daily across the world wide web— some of it straightforward and easy to understand and some of it confusing.

What may seem obvious to some may not be as obvious to others and so to help, the government has launched an easy-to-understand infographic on their website to help Canadians gauge the risk levels of their plans outside the home.

Health Minister Patty Hajdu announced the new tool during a press conference on Friday, encouraging Canadians to refer to it before making any weekend plans.

"We have the ability to choose our destiny here in Canada. It is in all of our hands. So, ask yourself before you go out this weekend — is what I'm about to do worth the risk? Is it worth the risk that I might end up very sick, or that someone in my circle will?" Hajdu said.

The website also features a downloadable, printable PDF of the information featuring colour-coded risk levels associated with various activities.

It warns Canadians to be wary of any plans that involve one of the three Cs:

  • Closed Spaces
  • Crowded Places
  • Close Faces

If this infographic may seem pretty straightforward, it’s because it is— but it’s also a faster and simpler way to access the risk factor before participating in any activities.
