The City of Montreal is kick starting a five-year waste management plan to reduce single-use plastic, get waste out of the landfills and educate the public about how to cut down on food waste.

The goal is for Montreal to cut least 85 per cent of its waste with great big hopes of becoming a zero-waste city by 2030

Step one is to keep waist out of the landfills - so theycity has started handing out the brown bins, on mass so that all Montreal households can be composting by 2025.
