There have always been several reasons why children might be stressed or anxious when going back to school. For some kids, their stress and anxiety are rooted in a fear of the unknown, especially if they will be in a new building or a new school district. Others might be worried about their appearance or not scoring high grades. Others might be dealing with a falling out with a close friend; getting cut from a sports team, or even dealing with a difficult teacher. When you think about it, there are a plethora of reasons why students feel extra stress and anxiety at the start of the school year— and unfortunately, 2020 brings a new kind of stress, no thanks to the novel coronavirus.
