Selena Gomez did her own make-up for her Allure magazine cover shoot.
The singer gave the interview to promote Rare Beauty, her venture into the cosmetics market, and used products from the line to create her looks for the magazine's "Best of Beauty" issue.
In the cover shot, Selena poses outside in a plunging black leather dress by LaQuan Smith, a black floral headband by Michael Schmidt and matching drop earrings. For her make-up, which looks natural besides a sweep of eyeliner, mascara and an orangey red lipstick, she used Rare Beauty products, such as the Liquid Blush in Grace, Positive Light Liquid Luminizer in Enchant, and Lip Souffle Matte Lip Cream in Inspire.
She applied the cosmetics while receiving direction over Zoom from her long-time make-up artist Hung Vanngo and she felt the pressure to get it just right.
"I had never done that before," she said. "I was a little stressed. I was definitely proud to be wearing (Rare Beauty). I was just like, ‘I hope I did this right.'"
Reps at Allure shared a behind-the-scenes video from the photoshoot on Instagram, showing the 28-year-old posing for photographer Micaiah Carter in a variety of outfits and locations as well as a snippet of Selena receiving guidance from Hung via Zoom as she does her make-up.
"For safety measures, the shoot was done at a reduced capacity which called for Selena herself to act as both the model and the makeup artist (with help from her go-to pro @HungVanngo over Zoom)," they wrote in the caption.
Rare Beauty launched earlier this month.
