Katy Perry has confirmed a photo of her at the Met Gala was made by AI.

The Firework singer confirmed she didn't attend fashion's biggest night, and the photo of her with a rose-adorned gown was in fact, fake.

She posted the photo on her Instagram page, alongside the caption, "Couldn't make it to the MET, had to work."

She also included screenshots of text messages from her mum, who had thought the images were of Katy.

"Didn't know you went to the Met," her mum had written. "What a gorgeous gown, you look like you are your own float lol."

Katy replied saying, "Lol, mom the AI got you too, BEWARE!"

Before Katy commented on the image, it had gone viral on X/Twitter, with more than 11 million views. The red carpet picture behind the fake image of Katy is actually from the 2018 Met Gala.
