Halsey has teased her fans by sharing a snip of a new song she has created that samples a Britney Spears classic.
The singer surprised her followers when she took to social media on Monday to upload footage of herself with a cover song playing over the top.
The 29-year-old singer sported bright pink hair in the video clip and was wearing a simple white t-shirt with the word "lucky" emblazoned across the front.
Music fans immediately noticed the accompanying soundtrack was a cover version of 42-year-old Britney's year 2000 song Lucky - a moderate tempo pop song about a lonely actress.
Sharing the clip via her Instagram page, Halsey wrote, "When I was 5, it always felt like Britney was singing directly to me. 24 years later, these words hit different. love you forever."
Last month, Halsey released a single titled The End which is serving as the lead track from her forthcoming fifth studio album.
While the title of her next record is yet to be revealed, fans are convinced it will be titled For My Last Trick after they noticed the chart-topping star registered a web address in that name.
It will be her first album since her 2021 record, which was titled If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power.
Halsey previously hinted her fifth album will be emotionally-fuelled as she wrote on Instagram last September, "Splitting myself in two everyday so that I can give you my deepest wounds (and a handful of perfect joys) for the 5th time in 10 years."
Britney released her ninth and final album, Glory, in 2016.
The star confirmed her retirement in January while bluntly denying a Rolling Stone report which claimed she was working on a new record, issuing a refutal online to state, "I will never return to the music industry."
