If you were impacted by the August 9 storm, submitted an insurance claim, and haven't heard back yet, don't worry—your claim could be one of many that Quebec insurers are still processing.
According to the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), around 70,000 home insurance claims have been submitted since August 9, 2024. This number exceeds the typical volume by more than tenfold.
The IBC also noted that the rainfall coincided with three other significant events in Canada this summer: forest fires in Jasper, heavy rains in Toronto, and hailstorms in Calgary.
It’s advised that victims document property damage, take photos, keep receipts for damaged items, and retain invoices for any expenses.
